A WORD FROM THE FOUNDER

The Hattie Maddie Foundation is a lifelong calling coming to fruition. When I was 7 years old, I expressed to my Grandmother, whom I’m named after, that I was special and God sent me here with a purpose. After a lifelong battle of bullying, family neglect, sexual assault, drug addiction, food addiction, and hate for myself and GOD, I made it through to the other side. 

I was given the most incredible gift of my husband quickly followed by the miracle of my daughter. You see, I was so abused and then abused myself even more that I was told I would likely not be able to get pregnant or even carry full term. My husband and my daughter were all I ever wanted. But then I was lonely. No friends, no community, feeling as if I didn’t even deserve to walk into a church or ask GOD for help. 

When my daughter joined a local preschool, I discovered women. Women who cared, women who wanted to help, women who were struggling with their own demons. The Mother’s Day tea party was created with the intention of bringing together women and giving them a community to lean on. Women who would love them, pray for them, love their babies, give them a shoulder to cry on. And from there, my Angel, Madelyn aka Maddie began to love life the way I did. She loves hard with animals, people, and her friends. She doesn’t like to make anyone sad or have them feel left out. She struggled too at a young age with some bullying and her focus became the same as mine. She wanted her friends to feel safe, loved and always welcome. I suddenly knew what God had been calling me since age 7. My daughter and I were going to give our hearts, our time, our service and start our foundation, the Hattie Maddie Foundation, to support women and girls. 

We strive to give emotional support and love, but we also know there is always a need for financial assistance. With the help and support of our community, local businesses, and families we are beginning our fundraising to support women in need. We will also begin, with a community volunteer group, dispersing scholarships for girls to further their education. Suddenly my life struggle is no longer something that happened to me, it happened for me to get me to my family, my community, and my calling. 

I’m so honored to share this foundation with you. I know together we can continue to lift each other up and do great things!
